Family Singo Night at the Canistota Legion. Saturday, January 10th, 2026.
Mrs. K's high school Speech class participated in the first annual 'Great Candy Cane Debate'. Students had to create a creative and pursuasive presentation, appealing to the ethos, logos, and pathos of their audience. These teams created surveys, read reviews, tracked sales, and researched everything from packaging to ingredients. The panel of 5 judges (2 seniors, 1 principal, and 2 educators) did not have an easy task in deciding a winner.
However, Traditional peppermint took the top three spots.
Congratulations to the 1st place winners:
Clara Remacle, Haley McGregor, Payson Acheson, Kenzie Belt-Hansen, Kaycee Jensen.

Thank you to Mr. Jacobsen and his shop classes for creating the Candy Cane Awards (ornaments) and to the panel of 5 judges for their time during a busy last week of school before Christmas break.

Hawk Community,

Per SDHSAA policy, the annual Winter Moratorium period will take place from December 23 to December 26. During this time, all school facilities are closed for activities. This includes, but is not limited to, practices, competitions, team travel, and any related facility usage. Students are encouraged to use this time to rest, relax, and spend time with their families before the competitive season starts up again on December 27. Contact Mr. Blide with any questions.

Congratulations to our 5th Grade D.A.R.E. Graduates!

We are so proud of our 5th grade students who officially completed the D.A.R.E. program! Throughout the past ten weeks, they’ve learned important lessons about making safe and responsible choices, resisting peer pressure, and building strong, positive relationships.

A huge thank you to our D.A.R.E. instructor, Officer Anna for guiding our students through this program. And congratulations, 5th graders—you’ve shown leadership, growth, and commitment. Keep making great choices! 👏🧡🖤
