There will not be a School Board Election in the Canistota School District on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. There were two positions open and only one petition returned by the deadline. The one petition filed was Ann Jacobsen. For the remaining vacancy, any registered voter living within the Canistota School District and interested in being appointed for a one year term, should email a written letter of interest outlining why you should be considered for this position to Mrs. Ortman by March 31, 2023. Copies of all written requests will be given to the school board for consideration and we ask that you appear before the school board at our April 10, 2023 school board meeting. A decision on the appointed school board member will be made at that time. Please contact Mrs. Ortman with questions you may have.
If you would like to be more involved in our district, this is a great opportunity!

Hello Families and Stakeholders,
As many of you know, we amended the end-of-the-year calendar to account for the snow days that affected us into February at the last board meeting. With the most recent snow event and being out of school for three days, Mrs. Ortman spoke with board members to discuss the most appropriate way to recover those instructional days.
The decision has been reached to make up these days over March 16th and 17th. We know this is short notice for these make-up days, so we won't count absences if your child cannot attend because of pre-planned conflicts.
The calendar with these adjustments has been attached to this email and updated on the school website. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we continue our commitment to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.

Just a reminder, our Pops Concert is Thursday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. All 5-12th grade band students and high school choir will be performing. Please have all 5th and 6th grade band students in the band room at 6:45 p.m.. All other student performers need to be in the bleachers by 7:00 p.m.
Due to the heavy snow drifting and low visibility out of town, Canistota School will be releasing at 2:30 p.m. today so that we can safely get students home. There will be no after school program today.
In order to make up some of the snow days that we have missed, it was decided at the February 13, 2023 school board meeting to extend the school year.
The last day of school for the Canistota School District will be on Wednesday, May 17th. That day we will have a 1 p.m. release.
Good Luck to our Hawk wrestlers as they compete at the Region 2B Tournament tomorrow in Salem. Below are the livestream links for the Region Tourney.
